Well I walk the hillsides and see them shrink I've flown through valleys fair I've even waded the darkest water to see your golden hair To see your golden hair Well I walk the deserts of burning sands I've gazed without a care At the stars which shine so brightly down above your golden hair Above your golden hair Oh but my darling I can't wait that long Oh but my darling I can't wait that long It's not right, it's not fair How can I be waiting here when you're not waiting there? If you're not waiting there? Well I walked along the highway With an empty bottle of beer And I've thrown it straight at the moon and I've cursed your golden hair I've cursed your golden hair Well I've seen the ghosts of ages Throw their hands up in despair And all because of a simple quest for that girl with golden hair That girl with golden hair Oh but my darling I can't wait that long Oh but my darling I can't wait that long It's not right, it's not fair How can I be waiting here if you're not waiting there? If you're not waiting there? If you're not waiting there?

Well it's hard to be alone! She said to me And it's harder still for me to see you up and walking Down along this old and dusty road Down along this old grey road So I turn to her and say this cannot be How can you stand so close and hear me talking? Of all the little lies you said to me Of all the little cruelties which led me walking Homeward underneath the yew tree where My sweetheart lies It's there where you'll find me in the dawning of the day When the sun falls from the sky My sweetheart and I So I keep my head down and carry on All I can see is the rain falling Down onto the road I walked along Down onto the road I walked along And out of the mist I see her form I have never seen her look so silent On the road it's hard to be alone On the road it's hard to keep yourself from walking Homeward underneath the yew tree where My sweetheart lies It's there where you'll find me in the dawning of the day When the sun falls from the sky My sweetheart and I My sweetheart and I My sweetheart and I...

I don't know where you came from, I don't even know your name All I'm looking for is someone who feels the same Somebody I once knew, someone I lost in the rain Someone for who the tears of time cannot douse the flame And it's hard to do when all you've got are thoughts from memory lane And it's hard to do when all you've got are thoughts from memory lane So tell me even though it doesn't matter, stay with me or else I'll be alone Ease my body into wander though my heart is set in stone Choke my throat into laughter, raise a toast to the inane Raise me down into slumber and never cause me pain And it's hard to do when all you've got are thoughts from memory lane And it's hard to do when all you've got are thoughts from memory lane And it's hard to do when all you've got are thoughts from memory lane And it's hard to do when all you've got are thoughts from memory lane

It was the winter when we last said goodbye I recall the chills sent a tear from your eye It was the morning that birds began to fly Into the clouds and out of sight Do you really love it when the moon is in the sky and the shade of the light of the sun can reflect yer eye? 'Cos I would stay with you until the turning of the tide and no-one would harm you I would never leave your side I turned off the light where you last lay Turning the page to find today You said you wanted life; what more could I say? No string of words would make you stay Do you really love it when the moon is in the sky and the shade of the light of the sun can reflect yer eye? 'Cos I would stay with you until the turning of the tide and no-one would harm you I would never leave your side Do you really love it when the moon is in the sky and the shade of the light of the sun can reflect yer eye? 'Cos I would stay with you until the turning of the tide and no-one would harm you I would never leave your side

I've never known a soul to walk I've never known the trees to talk I've never known no one like you I'd be with you if you asked me to You walked, with me or without me You walked, with me, with me You walked, with me or without me Once you walked alone Once I saw you leave me blind Once I saw you changed my mind Once I saw you proudly lead Once I could barely lag behind You walked, with me or without me You walked, with me, with me You walked, with me or without me Once you walked alone Once I nearly trusted you Twice I nearly felt a fool Thrice you nearly let me down Four times I longed you to stand your ground You walked, with me or without me You walked, with me, with me You walked, with me or without me Once you walked alone

about

The June Sessions see Josh upgraded from a house to Enborne Church in Newbury. The results mark a clearer, more distinct folk and fingerpicking sound.

Among the tracks listed are Golden Hair, Josh's first song to be aired by the BBC, and Cocaine Blues, a traditional song infused with John Martyn's arrangement and Davy Graham's instrumental classic 'Anji'.

Two bonus tracks 'Pledge' and 'Just Can't Sleep' are included in the free EP download.

Recorded at Enborne Church, Newbury.
